Regional Training Opportunity in Pathogen Genomics for Public Health Laboratories

The RPHL Network is pleased to invite nominations for a regional training on pathogen genomics and bioinformatics, hosted by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), Philippines.

This fully funded training aims to strengthen laboratory capacity in genomic surveillance, sequencing, and genomic data analysis to support public health programmes across the region.

Eligible Countries

Nominations are open to candidates from all 14 RPHL Network Member Countries:

Brunei Darussalam • Cambodia • Indonesia • Lao PDR • Malaysia • Myanmar* • Nepal • Pakistan • Papua New Guinea • Philippines • Singapore • Thailand • Timor-Leste • Viet Nam

*Participation from Myanmar may be supported subject to the availability of additional funding.

  • Be involved (or assigned soon) in:
    • Whole-genome sequencing (WGS)
    • Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance
    • Molecular epidemiology
    • Genomic data interpretation for public health

Preferred (Not Mandatory)

Priority may be given to candidates who:

  • Have experience using sequencing platforms (e.g., Illumina, Oxford Nanopore)
  • Have basic bioinformatics or command-line experience
  • Manage genomic data, quality control, or reporting
  • Support public-health decision-making
  • Have institutional endorsement to apply skills after training

How to Nominate
